Engineering EWUmate Vault: High-Availability Zero-Auth Academic Locker

1. Motivation: Eliminating Information Silos

Academic resources (lecture slides, midterm solution papers, lab manuals) at East West University were historically scattered across private Google Drive folders and Facebook message threads. When exams approach, shared Google Drive links frequently hit 24-hour rate limit download quotas (403 Rate Limit Exceeded), leaving students without study materials.

EWUmate Vault was built as a zero-authentication public academic library. It delivers in-browser PDF streaming previews, instant fuzzy search across thousands of documents, and automated dual-mirror failovers (Supabase Storage CDN primary + Google Drive API fallback).

2. Hierarchical Taxonomy & Edge Caching

  • Organized strictly by department: ICE, CSE, EEE, and BBA.
  • Course routing (e.g. vault.ewumate.pro.bd/courses/ICE207) is statically generated at build time using Next.js Incremental Static Regeneration (ISR), providing instant 80ms page loads globally.
